This two-week design project was motivated by the desire to create a nomadic architecture that would act as a shelter and a heat insulator for the user both when stationed and when migrating from heat source to heat source. Faced with a hundred dollar budget and a frigid Ithacan winter, this project became an experiment in form-realization and materiality. After many prototypes, the final construction is a rigid paper-plate armature lined with an insulative layer of vinyl and bubble wrap that maintains a 40° temperature difference from the exterior environment.
